Tony Bowls Fashion Shows
Allie participated in the Tony Bowls Fashion show which raised money for local schools. She had fun walking the runway in a Tony Bowls dress. She was able to participate in all three shows. In between shows she helped promote the Miss Kansas Teen World Pageant. She also got to meet title holders from other pageant systems. She was so excited to meet Tony Bowls himself while she was trying on one of his gowns.

Disney Prom Show
Allie also participate in the Disney Prom Fashion Show. This event also raised money for local schools. In this show she wore a Sherri Hill Dress. She had a great time because she was able to have lunch between shows with some of her pageant friends. Allie helped at the Miss Kansas Teen World booth telling girls about the Jr Miss competition. She had alot of girls who wanted to try her crown on. She also got to meet Jamie Stokes Miss Kansas USA.

Polar Bear Plunge
The Polar Plunge is an exciting annual fundraising event for both Special Olympics Missouri and Special Olympics Kansas where participants raise money and plunge into icy waters in support of Special Olympics athletes. A group of polar bears is called a celebration. It is quite a celebration, featuring music,crazy costumes and thousands of dedicated fans of Special Olympics! Allie attended the Plunge at Shawnee Mission Park where she handed out awards for the 5K Strut & the crazy costume contest.

Lenexa Christmas Lighting
Allie began December by appearing at the Lenexa Christmas Lighting. Allie and Mrs Kansas Stephanie Leibengood helped Santa and area children turn on the lights in downtown Lenexa. After the lighting ceremony Allie was a personal shopper in the childrens store. She helped kids pick out Christmas gifts for their family and friends. She thought that was a fun job.

Chain of Hope & Leavenworth Pageant
Allie set up a donation table at a local grocery store to collect items for Chain of Hope whose primary goal is to alleviate the suffering of abused and neglected animals within the urban core of Kansas City. Their ultimate goal is to break the chain of ignorance, break the chain of suffering, and break the chain of unwanted litters.

Allie attended the Leavenworth pageant to watch her sister Katie compete. While she was there she had the opportunity to meet Leslie Carillo the reigning Miss Kansas Outstanding Teen. Allie was so excited when Leslie knew who Allie was and asked her for her picture and autograph.

Teen/Miss Kansas USA & Blanket Drop off
We traveled to Wichita to watch the Teen/Miss Kansas USA pageant. It was alot of fun being able to watch girls we know competing for the Kanas title.

Allie and her sister Katie also dropped off some toys and the blankets they had made over Thanksgiving break to a local toy drive benefiting Childrens Mercy Hospital.

I want to thank everyone for the opportunity of serving as Mrs. Kansas US 2010. It has truly been an amazing year! I feel so honored to represent our state! The best part has been meeting so many incredible, generous people. I have had the privilege of volunteering at so many community events, riding in 2 parades, and giving back to my community through many different venues.

My most recent adventure was helping honor the residents of Safehome by treating them to a new wardrobe, makeovers, and a professional photo shoot. Safehome is a facility that provides shelter for battered women and their children here in Johnson County, Kansas. I was invited to participate with Hoffman International Model & Talent Agency. The idea to pamper these women came about from a local hair stylist here in Kansas City. This story was featured on KCTV5's morning show on Christmas Eve by anchor Kelly Jones. I enjoyed meeting these young women at Safehome and sharing this fun experience with each of them. I was able to present each of them with a gift bag full of products and services donated by generous local businesses. Many thanks to Hoffman Model's for inviting me and gathering all of these donations.

Throughout this past month I have witnessed the spirit of giving to others alive and in action! I have met many "angels" in and around my community. From helping sort donations for Angels for Afton to volunteering at Safehome, I am reminded of how fortunate I am to be able to share my time and resources with others. May God bless each one of you in the coming New Year! I look forward to many great things in 2011!

Hello everyone! I am excited to take all of my donations to a "sorting party" tomorrow morning. A group of Kansas City area volunteers are gathering and sorting all of the donations collected for the children of Afton, Oklahoma. A group of volunteers are driving down to Afton on Monday to deliver everything and watch the children perform their holiday program at their school.

On another note, I invited all of the contestants at the 2011 Mrs. Kansas and Mrs. Oklahoma America pageants (being held in Oklahoma) to join me in gathering children's clothing, books, personal care items, backpacks and food. We are going to present our collective donations to a representative from Afton at our January 22 pageant in Guthrie, Oklahoma! I will compete in this pageant in 2011 as Mrs. Kansas City.

As I prepare to go visit family and friends in Wichita next week, I am reminded of how fortunate I am to have my health, my family,a home, food, and such wonderful opportunities to serve others. I have met the neatest people during my reign as Mrs. Kansas US 2010. I will continue to promote my platform of skin cancer prevention and awareness in the new year! I am currently helping organize a 5K run/walk in the KC area that will raise awareness for melanoma (skin cancer). The run will be held May 28, 2011 and proceeds will go to the Kansas City Cancer Center, which provides financial help to people battling cancer.

Holiday Challenge from Mrs. Kansas US 2010

Hi Kansas queens and friends! I recently became aware of a small community in Oklahoma where 80% of the children live at or below poverty. They have established a website on Google at http://www.sites.google.angelsforafton.com/

I challenge all current and past Kansas queens to get involved by making an online donation or delivering toys, gently used children's clothing, personal care item, body wash, or food to this wonderful cause. I plan to help at the "sorting party" here in the Kansas City area this Saturday morning. I am taking 3 huge bags of clothing with me to donate and whatever else can fit in my vehicle! Join me in giving something to children living right here in the midwest who have nothing. Blessings to all of you!

Lenexa Christmas Tree Lighting

I had so much fun helping with the City of Lenexa holiday lighting ceremony on Friday evening! I got to meet Santa and Mrs. Claus! It was fun to see my sister queen, Allie Marx there as well. After the lighting ceremony, I helped children of all ages shop for their family members at the holiday store. It was fun to see kids from 18 months through 14 years old go in to select gifts for mom, dad, siblings, grandma, grandpa, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. They each came out with smiles on their little faces, proud that they selected a surprise gift for Christmas for a loved one! I especially enjoyed seeing all of the kids faces light up when Santa appeared. It was fun to watch kids of all ages give him high-fives and big hugs:)

Allie wasn't quite as busy this month, but she did get to volunteer at our library's annual book sale. One of Allie's favorite past times is reading so she was excited to help out at the sale. She had a great time organizing the books and helping kids pick out books. Allie also had a chance to buy some books for herself.

During her Thanksgiving break Allie and her sisters made blankets to donate to Childrens Mercy Hospital. They were able to make 11 blankets to donate.

WOW! What a crazy past few months I have had! From working at the breast cancer and light the night walks to working with the Olathe Youth Congress to put some major changes into my own community and school district and even working hand in hand with Project Warmth to provide winter coats to those in need and also getting to volunteer in the theatre in the park costume closet and work with some of the costumes that i have at some point been able to preform in! Lets just say I have been doing a lot of things and keeping very busy! I have to say thought that my very favorite thing I have gotten to do over my year of reign is getting to be apart of my first hollywood movie production! When I went to nationals this summer one of the judges there (shout out to Steven Roddy! I will always be your FAVORITE pageant girl), owned a website called The Pageant Planet. I was browsing the website one day, which I suggest you all do because it has some AMAZING information on there, when randomly I came across a contest called the “Make Me Famous” contest. I figured that I might as well enter it. Shoot, what did I have to lose?! So I did and a few short days later I was getting a phone call (another shout out to Candace Howard! Love you!) saying I was the lucky winner!! My dad and I went down to Georgia so i could film and it was easily the best week of my life. This industry is so eye opening and I feel blessed everyday to have been given that opportunity! The movie is called Fishers of Men and comes out in spring 2011!! So far this year has been off to a great start and there are lots of things coming up that I cant wait to share with you all! But what I can tell you right now is to keep dreaming those crazy and out there dreams because I am living proof that any thing is possible if you never let someone tell you otherwise!

Allie volunteered at the Lenexa Chili Festival as a Recycle Ambassador. She went around to the booths asking them if they would be apart of the Green Team by recycling the items she had on her list. Everyone was super nice and agreed to recylce.

Deanna Rose Farmstead-
Allie volunteered at the Night of the Living farm, a family event with old-fashioned lanterns and carved pumpkins that lead costumed trick or treaters through pathways of graves and ghouls. Allie helped at the flash light scavenger hunt. She also volunteered at the pumpkin patch helping with the games.

Allie rode in her first parade as Jr Miss United States World. She was in the KU Homecoming parade. She had a lot of fun especially since she got to see her big brother who attends KU.

Battle of the Badges was another event Allie volunteered at. It was held in Topeka KS and it is a football game between the Police and Fire Departments to raise money for Special Olympics. We set up a table and applied tattoos to the kids attending the game.

The last 3 weekends have been very busy for Allie. She participated in the Step Up Walk for Downs Syndrome. The walk raised over $400,000- All proceeds benefit the Down Syndrome Guild of Greater KC.
Down Syndrome Facts:
-Down syndrome is the most commonly occurring genetic condition with an incidence of 1 in every 733 births.
-There are currently over 400,000 individuals living with Down syndrome in the United States.
-There are approximately 5,000 babies born with Down syndrome each year in the United States.
-There are approximately 50 babies born with Down syndrome each year in the greater Kansas City area.
-Down syndrome is one of the leading clinical causes of cognitive delay in the world - it is not related to race, nationality, religion or socio-economic status.
-With appropriate support, individuals with Down syndrome can lead fulfilling lives and be contributing members of society.

Allie also volunteered as a team runner for a Special Olympics Bocce Tournament. She also got to hand out medals at the end of the games.

The next weekend she volunteered at a special event close to our hearts. The John Glaser Memorial 5 K run. The inaugural 5K Run/Walk was being held in honor of Shawnee firefighter John Glaser who lost his life this summer while on duty, and benefits the Surviving Spouse and Family Endowment Fund (SAFE) support the families of Law Enforcement Officers, Firefighters and Emergency Services Personnel in the Kansas City metropolitan area who have perished while protecting our community and our citizens.

Finally Allie raised money and participated in the Light the Night Walk, it is the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's nationwide evening walk to build awareness of blood cancers and raise funds for cures. Walkers carry illuminated balloons-white for survivors, red for supporters and gold for those walking in memory-to celebrate and commemorate lives touched by cancer.

Funds raised by participants support the Society's mission: cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma. Children, adults and seniors all take part in the annual Walk.

This is Allie's 3rd year to participate with a group of friends we have met through pageants. The group is called "Kansas Royalty" We always have a great time getting together and walking for such a great cause.

September Fun with Mrs. Kansas US 2010

Hello all! It has been a busy and fun September so far! I started September at Louisburg Cider Mill with a large group of energetic kindergartners! We saw how they make the cider and apple donuts, and of course sampled both! Next, I ran on a relay team on September 11th in The Patriot's Run in Olathe to honor those who lost their lives on 9/11 and raise money for the Salvation Army. Our team got 5th overall and ran over 50 miles!
I celebrated my 40th birthday this past week with family and friends. The celebration started last weekend with a virtual food drive to collect food for Harvester's Community Food Network in Kansas City. We were able to donate almost 1,000 meals! I spent the afternoon sorting fresh fruit and veggies. I have never seen so many tomatoes, bell peppers and jalepenos in my life! I enjoyed lunch with one of my best friends, dinner with family, and a girls night out birthday celebration later in the week with my small group from church. I have never laughed so much!
I am looking forward to being in the downtown Overland Park parade tomorrow morning! I am #54 and will be in a blue convertible Corvette! Will post pictures soon!

KC Zoo Fun Run & Bikers for Babies

Allie volunteered as a course monitor for the Kansas City Zoo Fun run which supports a different endangered speicies each year. This year was for the Polar Bears. The next day we were up bright and early to register bikers for KC's Bikers for Babies. More than 6,000 motorcycle riders gathered at Kansas Speedway on Sunday, September
19, for the 16th Annual Kansas City Bikers for Babies. Riders and sponsors contributed more than $700,000, surpassing the amount raised in 2009 and the March of Dimes 2010 goal.

Heroes & Halos

Heroes and Halos National Childhood Cancer Awareness Day Celebration is a fun-filled event for children and families affected by childhood cancer. It gives children that are battling cancer a chance to just be a kid and have a day of fun away from the hospital. It is also an opportunity for families that have lost children to cancer to memorialize and remember their special angels. Allie spent the day at this event with her sisters, the Brownings, Leets & the Hopkirks. They painted faces and helped with crafts. This is the second year Allie has volunteered at this event and truly enjoys it.

Bikers For Babies/American Girl Grand Opening

Allie volunteered at the Bikers For Babies preregistration event at Harley Davidson with her sisters. The Kansas City Bikers for Babies is the largest and most successful March of Dimes motorcycle ride in the nation. Bikers for Babies has raised more than $5.06 million in Kansas City in its 16-year history. Funds raised by Bikers for Babies support local research grants focused on issues related to premature birth and community programs such as NICU Family Support. Allie helped check in the bikers to make sure they had all of their paperwork filled out. She was also able to sign some autographs, which she loves to do. After the Bikers for Babies event we stopped by the Grand Opening of the American Girl doll store. Allie is a big fan of American Girl and has a small collection of them. She was so excited to be able to attend the Grand Opening in our area. The employees gave her a warm welcome and helped her pick out a doll (Felicity) to add to her collection.

Tour De Shawnee

Allie, her sister Maggie and friend Carney volunteered for the Tour de Shawnee, an annual bike tour around the bicycle-friendly city of Shawnee, Kansas. Riders can choose from a 12-mile or 24-mile route. This year the ride benefitted the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. The girls were course monitors, directing bikers and cheering them on.

Hello from Mrs. Kansas US 2010! I attended the City of Overland Park's 50th Anniversary event called Touch A Truck today! It was also a benefit for Harvester's food bank here in Kansas City. They had a huge turnout of over 5,000 people and collected thousands of pounds of food for Harvester's! I ran out of lollipops and autograph cards about half way into the event! I met the mayor of Overland Park, the Bomb Squad, Cesar the police dog from the K-9 unit, and saw many friends and their families today!

Hello all! What a great weekend in Kansas City! I made an appearance at Olathe Bible Church on Saturday and helped them raise money for Autism Speaks. I am not a huge car fan, but I am really learning alot at these car shows. It is so fun to hear the owners tell the stories behind the cars and meet their families. I also got to meet KC Wolf (the Chiefs mascot), what fun!

This morning I ran a 5K at the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure. I have never seen so many people come together for a charity race. It was awesome to see a sea of white and pink running around Crown Center and Union Station. The KC area race raised over $1 million dollars! I ran with some friends from my gym and got my personal best time of 26:56! It was hot out but I was so inspired by seeing all of the survivors and reading who people were walking in memory of.

Wow, I can't believe it is already August! I just returned from Mississippi where I competed at nationals for the title of America's Mrs. US. I won 1st runner up! I had fun seeing friends and meeting new friends!

This Saturday, August 7th, I will make an appearance at The Olathe Bible Church "Cruisin Car Show." I will be at the Autism Speaks booth and look forward to seeing everyone! I look forward to running in the Kansas City Race for the Cure on Sunday morning. I will run the timed 5k with several of my running buddies!

I am "in training" to partner with Animal Haven, a Kansas City area no-kill pet shelter, to make presentations at various community events to increase awareness of their organization, their lost pet center, and their on-going need for support and volunteers!

I am looking forward to the start of school in a few short weeks and plan to read to children in some elementary classrooms around the area.

I am having a blast serving as Mrs. Kansas US 2010 and am continually reminded of what an honor it is to hold this title and represent our wonderful state.

Camp Quality

Today Allie spent the day at Camp Quality - Camp Quality is a non-profit organization that provides free camping experiences and year-round support programs for children with cancer, and their families. Allie spent the day volunteering at the carnival for the campers and she also went swimming with them. It was a great day and she had a lot of fun spending time with the campers, she even got to see her friend Hailey who was a camper.

Hello from Mrs. Kansas US 2010! I had a blast at the 9th annual Rez Car Show in Leawood this morning. It was a beautiful sunny day. I enjoyed meeting all of the car owners and hearing their stories! My favorites were the 1969 Mustangs and other models from that year. I'm sure they raised alot of money for charity! What a great group of people.

Miss Teen United States Final Pageant

Today, Allie spent the day in rehearsal with the contestants preparing for her 1st official appearence as Jr Miss Untited States World. The final pageant was amazing and she was so excited to find out who her sister queen would be. Faith, her Kansas sister queen, did an amazing job and placed in the top 10 and was named Miss Personalilty. Way to go Faith! Allie was so excited when Belle Owen, Miss Kentucky, was named Miss Teen United States World and couldn't wait to spend the next couple of days getting to know her.

Wow! What a year this has already become since winning the title back on May 1st. It was a busy first month with a fashion show to benefit the Dress for Success charity at the Warren Theatre in Old Town. Then another show at Suede Lounge to benefit the Kyrie Foundation in their continued research efforts to find a cure for pediatric brain cancer. I'm so looking forward to Nationals in Vicksburg, MS and continuing to represent Kansas. I know this is going to be a great year and I can't wait to see what more exciting opportunities are coming!

Mrs. Kansas US 2010 at My Father's House

Wow, I was invited to help celebrate the first "anniversary" of the ministry My Father's House in North KC, MO. This is a ministry that provides home furnishings to those in need in the Kansas City area and is a part of my church UM Church of the Resurrection.
We started out with an outdoor carnival-like party until a giant wind storm blew everything over! After moving everything inside the warehouse, the celebration began. I could literally feel the spirit of God working inside My Father's House. I met the director, several volunteers, their ministry partners and several recipients of furnishings from this ministry. I was able to sign autographs for several children and adults! We took pictures, enjoyed a picnic lunch, and enjoyed live music from a local Christian rock band. What a great day!

It seemed everytime we turned around she was getting something from one of the sponsors. She was so thankful to everyone. She also went to watch the Teen contestants practice for their final pageant and of course had her hair and make up done by the amazing Marie Lynn and Katie.

2nd Day at Jr Miss World

The second day for the Jr Miss Contestants started out with interviews. After they were finished with interview the girls got ready for the Luau themed lunch. Allie said the lunch was amazing and after lunch the Teen and Jr Miss contestants gave gifts to Cassie & Lauren. The gift was supposed to have something to do you with your state. The girls had a little time to hang out by the pool and relax before they went to rehearsal. All the girls were treated to a nice dinner and then of course back to rehearsal. Teens have their Prelims tomorrow during the Jr Miss's final pageant. Tomorrow will be a busy day!

Day 1 at Jr Miss United States World Pageant in Houston

We arrived in Houston on Sunday June 20th, the day before pageant activities began. Everyone kept telling us how hot it was going to be in Houston, and boy were they right. That didn't stop us however from making our way to the Galleria - The biggest mall we had ever been in - over 400 stores! It was nice to arrive early so we could get settled in and just hang out. On Monday Allie had Registration & Orientation, this was when Allie met all the other girls competing in the Jr Miss division. She also met Gasper Cruz the director of the Teen United States World pageant. All the girls received some fun gifts and also their dresses that they were going to wear for opening number. After Orientation it was off to bed because the Jr Miss girls had interview early in the morning.

Allie Marx Jr Miss Kansas - June Appearances

We wanted to post a couple of events Allie made appearances at. The first was on June 5th at our hometown parade. Old Shawnee Days, one of the area’s largest festivals pays homage to the 1920s farm community heritage of Shawnee. Our family has attended Old Shawnee Days parade and festival for the last 19 years. Allie was excited to be in the parade, which is one of the largest in the State of Kansas. Allie's second appearance was on June 19th at the Sanctuary of Hope Walk. Sanctuary of Hope is a contemplative, ecumenical community of persons who are committed to knowing, loving, and serving God, each other, and those in need. It is a not-for-profit organization comprised of different faiths and cultures and committed to providing a retreat center in the inner city of Kansas City, Kansas. We participated in the Family Fun 1 Mile walk and then Allie handed out water bottles to those who walked/ran in the 5k. This was our 4th year our family has attended this walk.

Mrs. Kansas US 2010 @ Jazz in the Woods

Hello from Stephanie! I had a blast this weekend at Jazz In The Woods, a fundraiser for several local children's charities. I was able to join the Fox 4 news team on stage and announce the jazz artists, recognize our sponsors, and sing happy birthday to the city of Overland Park! I enjoyed meeting Fox 4 anchor Mark Alford and working with him on stage. I hung out with the event organizers and met representatives from our benefactors, Marillac, Lee Ann Britain Infant Development Center, Fox 4 Love Fund, and the Overland Park South Rotary Foundation. Thousands of jazz fans were in the audience to hear jazz artists Erin Bode, Mingo Fishtrap and Mindi Abair.
My family enjoyed all of the children's activities, the music, treats and playing frisbee at Corporate Woods. I was able to take pictures, sign autographs, and promote my personal platform skin cancer awareness and prevention on stage!
Saturday morning I went back out to help with the first annual Jazz in the Woods 5k run/walk and children's run. We had over 200 participants and a lot of fun before the rain hit!

Hello everyone, my first appearance at Farm Fest was great fun! My family went along and the girls didn't want to leave! This event raised money for Operation Breakthrough and the Deanna Rose Children's Farmstead. I enjoyed meeting and greeting about 100 children and their families.

I am excited to participate at Jazz In The Woods in Overland Park this coming weekend (June 11 & 12). This event raises money for local children's charities. I will help promote their first annual 5k run and walk while enjoying some wonderful music! On Saturday morning I will meet and greet children from the walk and I get to announce the winners of the 5k race. I am not running in this one, but hope to participate next year! Hi, I am Stephanie Leibengood, the new Mrs. Kansas US! I am so honored and excited to represent our state at nationals in Mississippi this July 31st! Serving as Jr. Miss Kansas World has been an incredible experience for Lauren Sage. There are so many wonderful people to thank for the opportunity! The Directors, staff, judges, contestants along with all the kind people our family has been blessed to meet over the past year- thank you! The Jr. Miss Ks. World 2010 Pageant was held in Wichita Ks. this past weekend.
Such an amazing group of young ladies gathered to compete for the Ks. Title. The weekend was packed with rehearsals, lunches, dinners, an outing to the boys and girls club and of course the competitions. We hope you enjoy looking at these pictures- just a few pics of the wonderful weekend. A very heartfelt congratulations to Allie Marx the newly crowned Jr. Miss Ks. World! And to all the newly crowned queens this weekend. May you use your year to have a positive impact on the lives of others and wear your crown with grace and compassion!

Bradens Miracle Mile

Sunday April 18th, a day of celebration. Celebration of Life, Hope and Love. A day to rejoice that we have this day and this moment. Lauren Sage along with several friends and her family volunteered to paint faces at a walk for Braden Hofen. Braden and his family are dear family friends. Braden has been battling neuroblastoma cancer. He relapsed in the fall of 2009. Bradens Mom Deliece is also beginning her battle against breast cancer. There are really no words to describe the Hofen family. There are no words to describe how horrible and frightening cancer can be. But todays words were about what cancer can not take from us, what we refuse to allow cancer to get. Today we have hope, we have love and we have TODAY! This amazing walk/run was put together to raise awareness for childhood cancer. The walk also served as a fundraiser for Bradens Medical Fund. over 1600 walkers, runners and volunteers came out for the event. So many amazing moments! Deliece and Brian Hofen greeted the crowd with inspirational words of love and appreciation. Lauren Sage sang the National Anthem while Callie Hobkirk in her Jr. ROTC uniform held the flag. The participants released yellow balloons into the sky in honor and memory of those who have lost their battle to cancer. The race began and thus and annual event was created. After the race there was a silent auction and raffle along with tons of activities for the kids. A band kept everyone entertained! Lauren Sage, Callie Hobkirk, Kendra Leet, Melanie Shaner and her friend Lucy painted faces for a few hours. A great big thanks to our new friend of the day, Amber, who kindly volunteered to take photographs of todays event so that we would have more hands for painting. Thank you also to LaDawna Hobkirk for changing water and keeping brushes clean! American Idol David Cook donated an autographed guitar for the event, a raffle was held for the guitar as well as a wonderful work of art by Braden! LaDawna bought 20 tickets and put ten in the guitar raffle and ten in Bradens art raffle! Low and behold she won the guitar! She was thrilled! We were all shocked! Go LaDawna! It couldn't have gone to a nicer person. Saturday April 10th! What a day of Celebration! Lauren Sage was thrilled to spend the day celebrating two birthdays. Zach Hofen, a very dear family friend celebrated his seventh birthday! Zachs little brother Braden has been battling neuroblastoma cancer and his mother Deliece was recently diagnosed with breast cancer and underwent surgery just two weeks ago. This family is so precious and through all of the terrible things that have happen over the past couple of years they have been such an inspiration to so many people. On Sunday April 18th there is a miracle mile walk for Braden. We hope many of you will be able to join us and walk to honor him. Braden continues his battle daily, but Saturday was a day to stop and celebrate! What a day it was. Zachs Army Birthday was made complete by the United States Marines! They came out to the party with two vehicles and even gave the kiddos a ride! Lauren Sage helped by taking care of Braden during the party and helping with set up and clean up. Right after Zachs party it was off to Missouri, Hailey Johnson, the Leukemia and Lymphoma Girl of the year was also turning 7 on Saturday! Hailey will be the ambassador at this years Kansas pageant! Hailey has Leukemia. She too is an amazing kiddo. Lauren Sage and Hailey have made a special friendship this year. Lauren Sage attended the party and gave Hailey her own crown box for her LLS crown. Hand decorated by Lauren Sage. In the midst of all the challenges these two families face it was so nice to take a moment and smile, laugh and celebrate the life of these precious children.

Beautification Project in Houston Texas

Lauren Sage joined Cassie Sumimoto Miss Teen United States-World and Nikki Golyer, representing the Bay Area for Miss Texas USA for a beautification project in Houston Texas on Saturday March 27th. The girls went to a local elementary in Houston to help collect trash from the playground and surrounding sports fields. A local brownine troop teamed up with all three girls to get the work done.

During the Jr. Miss Texas World pageant and Miss Teen Texas World pageant in Houston Texas - Lauren Sage, the contestants and the reigning Miss Teen Texas Jenna Wade along with the Miss Teen United States World visited a retirement village. The girls visited with the residents, played cards, bingo and took photographs. Lauren Sage learned two new card games. These lovely residents had so much to share and were such a delight to be around. Thank you to the Directors of the Texas pageant for providing such a wonderful afternoon and to all the residents and staff for allowing us to the opportunity to get to know you.

Sunday March 7th was the Pageant Workshop in Wichita Kansas. Lots of ladies gathered to learn about the 2010 pageant. Lauren Sage and sister Queens Katie and Sloan were excited to meet some of the contestants for this years program. Kim McDowell and LaDawna Hobkirk ran the workshop. The girls had a Question Answer session with the attendees in addition to runway practice, mock interviews, a fitness expert oration and a photo shoot. Lauren Sage spoke on behalf of the LLS society about the Pennies for Patients program that the pageant will be participating in this year.

Friday March 5, Lauren Sage worked with Divine Truth, a Christian youth performing group in a community outreach program. Making sack lunches, collecting clothing and toiletries. 800 peanut butter and jelly sandwiches latter... Yes, thats right they made 800 sandwiches and packed 800 lunches to be delivered tomorrow morning! After the work was done the kids celebrated their work with pizza and fellowship.

Polar Plunge 2010

The Polar Plunge. Saturday Janurary 30th. Longview Lake, Missouri. The Polar Plunge is a special event that raises money for Special Olympics. There are plunges taking place all over the country during the winter months. Today Lauren Sages Dad Scott, and her brother Hunter plunged into the 27 degree water to raise money to support Special Olympic Athletes! Lauren Sage sang the National Anthem during the opening ceremony! There were 35 heats of plungers... WOW!!! Thanks to everyone who donated and supported our team!

Winter Special Olympics

Friday January 22nd. Lauren Sage headed to Snow Creek Ski Resort in Weston Missouri for the winter Special Olympics. Special Olympic Athletes from all over the Midwest gathered for the event. Lauren Sage gave water to the athletes as they came off the ski runs! She made lots of new friends on the slopes! Hot Chocolate and snow boots were essential today. Although the weather has improved it was wet and chilly at the ski resort. However, watching the althletes and their amazing dedication, drive and endurance warmed our hearts.

Through Special Olympics the athletes improve physical fitness, acquire new skills, develop lifelong friendships and encourage widespread community understanding and acceptance.

Next week Lauren Sage will be hosting a team to raise funds for Special Olympics. The event is the Polar Plunge. Lauren Sage's brother Hunter and her Dad Scott will be plunging into a cold and partially frozen lake to raise funds. Tony Bowls Fashion Show

Sunday January 10th, the Tony Bowls Fashion Show in Kansas City, Kansas. Lauren Sage and lots of other young ladies from all over greater Kansas City, along with a few young men participated in the Tony Bowls Fashion Show. The show was to benefit the Blue Valley Education Foundation and other School District Foundations. Lauren Sage was delighted to be asked to participate again this year in the show. She wore a beautiful pale blue (her favorite color) short cocktail style dress. TLC was there filming for their new pilot show on Tony Bowls. The show was incredible the gowns were amazing! Lauren Sages state sister teen queen Katie was in the show as well! Tony gave each girl in the show a rose on stage! What a fun event and a weekend to remember!

Tony Bowls Fashion Forum and Rehearsal

Friday January 8th. Lauren Sage was so excited to attend a Fashion Forum for Tony Bowls. The Forum was held in Overland Park at the Deer Creek Country Club. TLC is following Tony doing a pilot program for a show. Lauren Sage was asked to do an interview with TLC after the Forum. Saturday January 9th, Lauren Sage tried on gowns and had one of her gowns that was designed by Tony signed by him! Saturday was also the practice for the Tony Bowls fashion show in Kansas City. The Show is highly focused on prom wear! Lauren Sage and many other young ladies from all over Kansas City practiced walking the runway. The stage is amazing, what a great show it will be! Lauren Sage had a second interview with TLC on Saturday! What a weekend so far and the fashion show is tomorrow!

Sunday December 20th, Lauren Sage was thrilled to get together with lots of pageant friends for dinner and the Miss Ks. USA and Ks. Teen USA pageants. The girls and the Moms had a wonderful dinner at a local Lawrence Ks. restaurant and then headed over the KU campus to watch the pageant and cheer on friends. Lauren Sage knew lots of ladies in both pageants. Wow, were they amazing! You all deserved to go home with a crown tonight!

Childrens Mercy and LLS Holiday Party

Saturday December 12, 2009, Lauren Sage was thrilled to be helping for the second year with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Holiday Party. Painting faces and passing out candy canes was so much fun!!! All the children received a gift from Santa! There were inflatbles and crafts, cookie decorating, dancing, a wonderful lunch and more. The children and their families were able to set aside their worries if only for a moment and enjoy each other and all the festivities! What a blessing to be a part of such a wonderful event.

Blood cancers such as leukemia, Hodgkin lymphoma, non-Hodgkin lymphoma, myeloma and myelodysplastic syndromes are cancers that originate in the bone marrow or lymphatic tissues. Miracle on Ks. Ave. Parade

On November 28th Lauren Sage invited her little friend Grace to ride with her in the Miracle on Kansas Avenue Parade in Topeka Kansas. Grace has a disorder called: Mesangioproliferative Glomerulonephritis. It developed from Henoch Schonlein this past spring. In order to treat this disorder Grace must be on steroids and other medications and has been traveling to St. Louis to see specialists there. Pilgrim Pacer Run

Saturday November 14th, The Pilgrim Pacer run to benefit Harvesters of Kansas City along with a special honor at the run for Braden Hofen battling Neuroblastoma Cancer. Held in beautiful Shawnee Mission Park in the gorgeous fall setting! Lauren Sage showed up to paint faces dawning her Bradens Army T-Shirt. Braden is a close family friend, a sweet, sweet little boy who has spent the last year of his life battling cancer. He is such a brave boy and a hero to all who know him and many who don't. Bradens Mom and his brother Zach were at the race telling Bradens story. Zach, just a first grader ran the 5K! (He received a medalion at the end of the race and is under the impression that surely that meant he had won! So cute!)Harvesters is a community response to hunger. By providing food they give sustenance and hope to those in need. They also work toward long term solutions through nutrition, education, hunger awareness and advocacy. Although the day was kind of drizzly, lots of folks turned out to participate in the 5K, 10K and half Marathon Run! An organization called "Girls on the Run" also participated in the run. Young girls starting in 3rd grade participate in this organization accross the country. Giving girls a place to learn about and experience running, being part of a team and of course building friendships. Lauren Sage got to paint many of their faces. The race was a huge success!

March of Dimes Chef Auction

November 8th was the 19th annual March of Dimes Chef Auction in Wichita Kansas. Lauren Sage and several other pageant girls were at the event volunteering. The Mission of the March of dimes is to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, infant mortality and premature birth through community services, advocacy, research and education. As a premature baby herself, Lauren Sage was honored to help with such an important event. She spent most of the evening talking to people who attended the event, asking them to purchase a March of Dimes bracelet that would allow them to participate in one of the evenings activities. Along with some of her friends they were able to sell over 150 bracelets and collect a significant amount for the event. She also enjoyed the wonderful food from 15 of Wichitas chefs! She participated in another fundraising event of the evening "Digging for Diamonds", although she ended up with only a "CZ" she loves it! What a wonderful evening spent raising funds for the March of Dimes.

Miss America visits Kansas

On November 2nd, Katie Stam Miss America 2009 came to Wichita Kansas for a lecture series hosted by Delta Gamma of WSU. Lauren Sage was asked to be a special guest. She was introduced by Brett harris of B98 FM and signed autographs along with Miss Ks. America -Becki Ronen & Miss Ks. Outstanding Teen -Chelsea Chilcott & Miss America Katie Stam following the event. What an honor!!! Lauren Sage and some of her good friends Kendra Leet and Caitlyn Webb traveled to Wichita on Monday to attend the event. There were so many other pageant friends in attendance that evening. Miss America gave a wonderful speech about the importance of community service and giving back. This is a reflection of her platform for the year and of course spoke straight to Lauren Sages heart. After the event Lauren Sage and her friends were invited to attend a private reception for Miss America at the Delta Gamma house. Thanks so much to Lauren Werhan for the invitation to be a part of this incredible night!

Alex Lemonade Stand on Halloween

Lauren Sage and her good friends Faith Tyrell and Katie Kralicek ran an Alex Lemonade Stand on Halloween! Serving Hot Chocolate instead of Lemonade! The stand was in honor of Braden Hofen who is currently in Philidelphia receiving treatment for cancer. Bradens cancer came back in August after a year of surgery, treatment and transplant. Braden has a group of folks all accross the country called Bradens Army and we were so glad to see some of them at the stand last night. The stand was a huge success! They passed out candy and treats to the trick or treaters and served up steaming starbucks hot chocolate to kids and parents who wanted to donate to the cause. A great big thank you to Debbie Tyrell for all of her help with the stand! I think this will be an annual event at the Browning house!

Walk to Defeat ALS

Saturday October 17th, the Walk to Defeat ALS, in Overland Park, Ks. ALS: Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis also known as Lou Gehrig's disease. This is a progressive neurodegenerative disease. The ALS Association symbolizes the hope of people everywhere that ALS will one day be a disease of the past! They day was a bit chilly but a large group turned out to walk! Lauren Sage ran the Jelly Bean Guessing Station! How many Jelly Beans in that jar? 2290!!! We counted! Lauren Sage even got her face painted...so pretty! It was a great day helping to support the benefit walk and making new friends!

It was a chilly night but a good turn out to walk. This was the second year Lauren Sage has walked in Lawrence for LLS. Thanks to everyone who walked and donated towards this cause. The sky was filled with luminary balloons as the girls walked through downtown Lawrence.

Faith holds a state title for another program currently and was also first runner up last year in Teen Kansas World. It was a perfect day for a parade... with a huge turn out. Light the Night Walk in Overland Park, Ks. 2009...What a wonderful group of young ladies joined Lauren Sage, Jr. Miss United States for the walk. Prior to the walk the team raised funds for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society! Thousands of people turned out to walk. Lauren Sage was walking in honor of a family friend who passed with Leukemia this year and in honor of our little friend Braden who is bravely fighting his battle with cancer. Sunday September 20th, Overland Park Arts in the Arobretum for Kids. Lauren Sage, Jr. Miss United States-World volunteered for the event by painting faces. It was a perfect afternoon and lots of families came out to make nature crafts and listen to stories or see the Native Snake exhibit. Lauren Sage painted flowers, pumpkins, butterflies and lots of kitties on faces. What a fun afternoon in a beautiful setting!

Heros and Halos Cancer Day Camp

The opportunity to attend Heros and Halos was golden. Saturday September 12th, was spent in Eudora Kansas at a day camp for children who have survived or are battling against cancer as well as honoring the angels who fought against cancer. Lauren Sage took some school friends and joined some pageant friends at the camp. They did arts and crafts with the kids as well as painted faces, painted nails and just had lots of laughs and giggles. So many special memories and friends were made over the course of the day. What a blessing to be able to share in this day and spend time with these children and their families.

Whew! The girls have been busy! Kaiti and Sloane spent most of Tues in rehearsals. The opening number routine is amazing!! They also participated in a swimsuit photoshoot. Great white bikinis!

Wed. was prelim night. Both girls did an amazing job! LaDawna and I were so proud of them! Lauren Sage was announced on stage as the inaugural Jr. Miss US-World! She is beyond happy!

Thursday has been spent in interviews. Both Sloane and Kaiti feel very good about how interview went and they looked fabulous. Evening was spent in rehearsals for final show.

Friday is the final show and coronation ball. Will post more pics as they become available.

Kaiti, Sloane, and Lauren Sage left KS on Sat. July 4 to head to Houston for Miss Teen US-World and Miss US International!! On Sunday, we headed to Galveston, TX to enjoy the sun and sand! (LaDawna, Kim, and Tia enjoyed it too much and got a sunburn!) Monday has been spent getting checked into the fabulous hotel and attending orientation. Lots of great gals! Tuesday is the swimsuit and evening gown group photoshoot followed by rehearsals. Wed is prelim night!! Thurs. will be spent in interviews and rehearsal. Finals are on Friday!!

We have some great news!! Lauren Sage Browning was appointed the inaugural Miss Jr. Miss US-World!!! She will spend the year traveling to different states continuing her volunteer efforts!

Whew! Our titleholders have been busy making appearances! Several of our gals participated in the Riverfest Parade in May!

Lauren Sage attended Harvester and recently received the Kids Have Heart award for outstanding community service! She also received the Kindest Kansas Citian from her school and recently participated in Relay for Life.

Kaiti has been the guest of honor in a local 4th grade classroom! She also spoke at the Chamber of Commerce.

Sloane has been busy with charity car shows! She attended the ARC car show in May, the CAST car show in June and will be attending the Make A Wish car show in late June.

Congratulations to Lauren Sage Browning, Miss Jr. Teen KS-World, Kaiti Hemann, Miss Teen KS-World, and Sloane Lewis, Miss KS US International. These gals were crowned the 2009 state titleholders at the inaugural pageant held at the Mary Jane Teall Theater in Wichita, KS on May 2nd. Kaiti and Sloane will go on to represent KS in the Miss Teen United States-World and the Miss US International pageant in Houston this July!

As the directors, LaDawna and I are so very proud of all our girls! We had 27 participants and were so very impressed with each girl's performance! The girls participated in First Friday and helped raise awareness for equal access to arts education in the classroom by gathering signatures on the MENC music education petition.
